How we handle your information

Born Element collects as little as possible, and only when it clearly improves the experience.

The short version

Your birthday is processed entirely in your browser. It is never sent to our servers, and we never see it.

Born Element does not use tracking cookies. It uses local browser storage only to remember your calculator data on your own device, so you don't have to re-enter your birthday on every visit.

We don't run behavioral tracking. We don't sell data. We don't require an account. The calculator, the element guides, and the Daily Reading are all free to use without signing up or sending your birthday to a server.

This page explains the full picture — what happens locally, what happens if email subscriptions are added later, and what we never collect under any circumstance.

When you use the calculator

When you enter your birthday into the calculator, the calculation runs entirely in your browser. Your birth date is not transmitted to us, not logged on our servers, and not visible to any third party we use. We never see it.

For convenience, the calculator saves three things to your browser's local storage so that the Daily Reading can remember your element on your next visit without asking you to re-enter your birthday:

Saved in your browser

The birth date you entered

Your calculated Born Element

Your calculated element strength

These are stored locally in your browser on your device. They are not transmitted anywhere, and they are not tied to an account. You can clear them at any time through your browser's settings — see "Your control" below.

If you don't want your birthday saved locally, you can use the calculator in your browser's private/incognito mode. The calculation will still work — the result just won't persist between sessions.

If email subscriptions are added later

Born Element does not currently run an email newsletter. There is no signup form, no subscription flow, and no email list. You can use every part of the current site — the calculator, the element guides, the framework articles, the Daily Reading — without ever providing an email address.

If email subscriptions are added in the future (for example, a weekly element reading or seasonal updates), subscribing will always be optional, and this page will be updated before the feature goes live. Here is exactly what the email system would store at that point:

What subscribing would store

Your email address — required to send you what you subscribed to

Your Born Element and zodiac signonly if you have already calculated a result at the moment you subscribe, so the emails you receive can be relevant to your element

The source of your signup (calculator page, daily reading, footer, etc.) — so we can see which parts of the site are helping people

The date you subscribed

If you subscribe without first calculating your element, only your email address, signup source, and subscription date would be stored. The Born Element and zodiac fields would simply stay empty.

What subscribing would NOT require

Your raw birthday is never sent to our email system — not now, and not when subscriptions are added later. Only your calculated Born Element, the result, ever leaves your device. The input stays in your browser.

When email subscriptions are live, every email will include an unsubscribe link. Clicking it will remove you from the list immediately. If you want your data deleted from the email system entirely, you will be able to request that — see the Contact section below.

What we never collect

This is the part most privacy policies hedge. We don't. Born Element will not collect the following — not now, not through any feature on the current site, and not as a default if the site expands later. If any of these ever becomes necessary for a specific, optional feature, we will update this page and ask you directly.

Your raw birthday in our email system

The calculation happens in your browser. Only the derived Born Element leaves your device.

Your name, gender, birth time, or birth location

None of these are needed to calculate or use your Born Element.

Payment information

The site is free. There is no checkout, no subscription fee, no payment flow.

Social account access

No "sign in with Google/Apple/Facebook." No OAuth. No account system at all.

Behavioral tracking across other sites

We don't load pixels, third-party trackers, ad SDKs, or fingerprinting scripts.

Data sold to third parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data, ever. There is no data-sharing business model here.

Third-party services

Born Element is a small independent project, and we rely on a few infrastructure services to deliver the site. We keep this list short on purpose and update it when it changes.

Web hosting

The site is hosted by a standard web hosting provider. Like all web hosts, it receives basic request information (such as IP address and browser type) for the purpose of serving pages and protecting against abuse. This is standard server-log data — not something we access, analyze, or link to any user.

Google Fonts

We use Google Fonts to load the typefaces you see on the site. When your browser requests a font, Google may see your IP address as part of that request. We do not pass any other information to Google, and Google Fonts does not set cookies or tracking identifiers.

Email service provider (if you subscribe)

If and when email subscriptions are available, they will be delivered through a standard email service provider. Your email address and the fields listed in the subscription section above will be processed by that provider. We will name the provider on this page at the time it is used.

Born Element does not currently use analytics tools (Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom, or similar). If that changes, we will update this page and name the tool before it is added.

Your control

Every piece of data described above has a way for you to remove or control it. Here is exactly how.

Clear your locally stored calculator data

The calculator saves your birthday, your Born Element, and your element strength in your browser's local storage. You can clear this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this site, or by using your browser's privacy settings to remove local storage for bornelement.com. On most browsers, this is done through Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cookies and site data.

Unsubscribing, if email subscriptions are added later

When email subscriptions become available, every email we send will include an unsubscribe link. Clicking it will remove you from the list immediately. You will also be able to request deletion of your data from the email system by contacting us.

Requesting deletion of subscription data

If you ever subscribe in the future and want everything connected to your email address removed from our systems, you will be able to contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

A few final notes

Children

Born Element is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the site in a way that stored data locally, clearing that device's browser storage will remove it.

Not medical or psychological advice

Born Element is a framework for self-understanding. It is not medical advice, psychological diagnosis, or a substitute for professional care. If you are experiencing persistent distress, please consult a qualified professional.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes (things that affect what information is collected or how it is shared) will be noted clearly at the top of the page for a reasonable period after the change.

Contact

If you have questions about this policy, want to report a concern, or (in the future) want to request deletion of data connected to an email subscription, you can reach us at hello@bornelement.com.

We read every message and will respond as soon as reasonably possible.
